TrailX Easter Duathlon

XX Month 2021, Venue Location

Bring your trail running shoes and your mountain bike, then run, ride, run!

This fab woodland offroad duathlon is in its 3rd year and is proving to be a ‘must do’ event for multi sports competitors who enjoy winterey trails.

New for 2022 we have included a Youth and HalfX event so if you’re at least 14 on 12th December and have sense for adventure come and join us, regardless of your experience!

The competition for full distance participants will consist of completing a 3.5km trail running route, 3 laps of a 4.7km cross country mountain bike course before finishing with another crack at the run route. If you’re joining us for the HalfX or the Youth race then it’s the same format of run, ride, run but the trail running route is 2.8km and misses the steepest climb and the mountain bike section will be 2 laps of the 4.7km route.

The Course

The courses for both trail running and mountain biking are entirely off road and contained within the private Gaddens Farm estate.

The trail run

Starts on an open grassy track, followed by a blast along a gravel road so that there is plenty of space for competitors to spread out before diving into the woodland. Once into the woods you’ll be greeted by twists, turns, ups and downs that come thick and fast. The route also uses plenty of gravel roads and paths to ensure that there is chance for you to either recover or stretch your legs.

The mountain bike course

The bike course follows the same theme with enough to satisfy your love of woodland singletrack. Whilst making sure that there are plenty of open forest roads for having a breather and allowing for safe overtaking.

While we’re talking about mountain bikes. It’s worth pointing out that both the FullX and HalfX events are mountain bike only. You will not be allowed to compete if you are planning to use a cyclocross bike, gravel bike, commuter or any type of road bike. This rule is here to ensure that you get as much enjoyment from the event as possible. For more information check out the Rules and FAQ’s page.

FAQs and rules

We’ve compiled a list of things that we’re asked the most often. If your query isn’t answered below then just drop us a email: [email protected]

What is an Off Road Duathlon?

You start in your trainers, run a predetermined distance before swapping to your mountain bike, then complete the bike course, this is usually a number of laps that add up to the advertised distance and finally you drop you bike off and complete the final run, usually the same course as the first run for a few laps of the fully marked course. See TrailX’s homepage for course details at each venue, including distances. The entire course is clearly marked and marshalled so there is no chance of getting lost.
