Gravel Rush, Winchester

Sunday 28th June 2026, Matterley Estate, Winchester

Gravel Rush is back for 2026! An innovative and thrilling Gravel Race in the stunning Matterley estate, nestled in the South Downs National Park! Whether a seasoned Gravel or offroad rider, or you’re new to cycling and want a challenge, this is the event for you!

The entire 9km loop of this lapped race has been planned with Gravel Racing in mind – plenty of space for group riding, open design to keep your speed up and challenging enough to make a ‘proper day out’. Lapped racing also means that you’re never far from assistance, whether mechanical, or another water bottle from your support crew. You don’t have to own a gravel bike to be able to ride at Gravel Rush, you are more than welcome to join us on a Cyclocross or mountain bike.

Ride solo or as a pair!

You can also enter Gravel Rush as a pair, meaning that you register with another rider and split the riding between you. Divide the laps up however you like, so long as both of you complete at least one lap with a designated pairs change over area to hand over to your partner.

Distances, Prices and Start Times

Entry on the day is only available if there is space, with a £10 surcharge, so please contact us to check before traveling.
All entries will be subject to a 3% admin fee. Online Registration is available until 24th June 2026.

The Course

Matterley Bowl, located in the South Downs National Park, is a scenic estate with private gravel roads, woodland tracks, and grass paths perfect for safe and memorable gravel racing.

The start and finish area in a grass-sided valley provides great spectator views and a lively atmosphere. During the race you will pass through this area multiple times, ensuring you receive lots of support.

The 9km lap features approximately 80% wide gravel roads and 20% dirt and grass tracks, all suitable for overtaking and fast racing. The route is ideal for popular gravel tyres, though cotton tyres, especially narrow ones, are not recommended.

Racers will encounter a mix of short, sharp climbs and longer, steadier gradients, but none that are too challenging.
