Based in a stunning farmland estate with brilliant views across the South Downs, the duathlon has two distances to choose from and is open to competitors who are at least 14 years old.
The FullX race is open to those aged 16 and upwards and consists of a 5km run, followed by 12km on mountain bike and finishes with another lap of the 5km run. The classic TrailX Off Road Duathlon distance.
FullX Off Road Relay Duathlon – The same routes as the solo event but you get to compete with a partner, one of you completes both runs and the other completes the bike ride.
HalfX Off Road Duathlon – The format is exactly the same as the FullX event; run, ride, run but the distance for the run is 3km and the bike is approximately 6km and is open to anyone who is over the age of 14 on the day of the event. All the smiles but with less of the miles. If you’d like to have a go but find the FullX distance a bit daunting then HalfX is the race we recommend.

Route details
Run routes
Both the 5km and 3km courses will start on a short grassy track and then a gravel road that takes you to the highest point of the venue where if your legs and lungs allow, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views across the downs and the rest of the estate!
As you reach the end of the gravel road, it’s into the woods to some exciting twisting single track before heading out into the open where the routes split. FullX competitors will head off along a grass track before heading into the woods for more twisting trails. Then it’s all back together before making your way to transition, or the finish at the end of your second run.
Bike routes
As you leave transition, it’s off out on an exciting bike course that is designed to be accessible for all abilities but becomes challenging the faster you go. The route explores the venues woodland areas as well as making use of open gravel roads that will allow you to either get your breath, or make some time up depending on how you’re feeling. The FullX competitors will complete two laps of the bike route and the HalfX competitors will complete one.
Both routes offer varied terrain with a mixture of woodland trail running and open grass or gravel tracks.

FAQs and rules
We’ve compiled a list of things that we’re asked most often. If your query isn’t answered below then just drop us an email: [email protected]
What is an Off Road Duathlon?
Our Off-road Duathlon consists of three elements spread over two disciplines. First up is a trail run following a marked route. Second is a mountain bike ride, during which you will follow a marked route that may well be ridden a number of times to complete the full distance and the third element is another trail run, usually done over the same route as the first one. Both trail running and mountain biking routes will be on mixed terrain including woodland trails, single track, open paths and gravel roads. The routes may be technical in areas and will involve hill climbing and descending. The distances of all three elements will be advised on the event page.
Can I have a go?
What kit/equipment do I need?
Can I practice before I race?
How will the start of the race work?
If the course design means that we can’t have our preferred mass start, racers will be split into batches by their category. The first batch will start at the advertised time and they will be followed by the remaining batches at an interval of a few minutes.
What do I do if I can’t finish my race?
Registration & Transition
Registration will open from the time confirmed in your pre race email and will close 15 minutes before the start of your race.
The mountain bike course will be open for practice for at least 1hr30 before your race, please allow 20-30 minutes for a lap. Your bike must be in transition by at least 20 minutes before your race is scheduled to start (see event details) and you must have signed on at registration before racking your bike.
Only your bike, helmet, and cycling shoes (if applicable) can be placed in transition.
Race briefing
The race director will carry out a briefing at the transition area 15 minutes before the start of each race and will walk to the start line with you, during this time please ask any questions that you have.
It is compulsory that you attend the briefing.
Can I cancel my entry?
